Kwang Joo Kwak, Ph.D.Postdoctoral Researcher, NSEC / Associate Staff Member, Nanotech West LaboratoryPhone: (614) 688-4400 E-mail: kwak.63@osu.edu Kwang Joo Kwak is a Research Associate in the Center for Affordable Nanoengineering of Polymer Biomedical Devices (one of the NSF-sponsored Nanotechnology Science and Engineering Center, NSEC). He is also an Associate Member of the Nanotech West staff for atomic force microscopy (AFM). He received his B.S. in Chemistry from Seoul National University in South Korea. After receiving his Ph.D. in Biomolecular Engineering (Tokyo Institute of Technology (Titech), Japan) in 2002, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Titech (2002-2005), at the Physiology and Biophysics Department of the University of Miami (2005-2006), at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Ohio State University (2006-2008), and thereafter joined the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department OSU. He has worked extensively on projects developing methods and systems for nanofabrication and nanomanipulation using nanoscale materials. He has strong instrumentation background in AFM, STM and NSOM, and characterization in colloid and surface chemistry. He is working with Prof. James Lee on the development of the platform of antibody arrays on substrates that comprise the functional interface of biomedical devices for various therapeutic applications such as gene/drug delivery and diagnostic sensing devices. He has recently found applications of electric fields to multi-cantilevers of dip-pen nanolithography tools for gene/drug delivery into cancer and stem cells. |
